Pros and Cons of Partial Dentures

Pros:

  • Economical
  • Can be done rather quickly
  • May look like real teeth
  • May be a good temporary solution while waiting to get implant treatment or during implant healing.

Cons:

  • May need training to get used to it
  • May get loose from time to time
  • The bone and gum under the denture may shrink with time and the denture needs periodic repair or replacement.
  • Anchoring teeth may deteriorate due to daily pounding.
  • Patients who have tori on lower jaw or palate cannot tolerate dentures.
